Paris for a night: 2 boutique stays for a stopover

November 27th, 2018 Holiday Tips

We might be mountain dwellers for most of the year, but every once in a while we love to hang up our country boots and get lost in the city.

This year, as part of our environmental pledge to reduce our combined carbon footprint, we are helping guests reach us via train travel with our new promotion offering free transfers to groups of guests taking the train. There’s something lovely and nostalgic about boarding a train, and to make your journey even more special we suggest having a cheeky stopover in France’s stunning city of lights. Why not use the opportunity to book a chic hotel and indulge in the city?

To make the most of our city breaks we often search for a unique guest house, something a little luxurious or eccentric. Here are a couple of our recent stays to inspire you.

Chic and colourful : Les3chambres

In the heart of the city, on a quiet street a few blocks from the Opera Garnier and the Louvre Museum, in this charming guest house you will be welcomed by Laurent, a Parisian with a background in art, craft and decoration. As the name suggests, there are three luxurious guest bedrooms in this spacious 19th century apartment accessed by an antique wooden stair case.

With its bright rooms of classic and contemporary design, this place really raises your spirits. You can easily lose track of time in the turquoise library lounge with its neoclassic aesthetic and collection of bizarre and ancient objects to ponder over. Choose one of the three beautifully styled bedrooms, with Cole & Son wallpapers and velvet cushions. We found everything to be perfect for a cosy city break.

Unique and Romantic: Caron de Beaumarchais hotel

For something quintessentially French, this hotel evokes the life and times of the 18th-century playwright after whom it is named, and is sure to leave a lasting impression. Situated in the Marais, the historical centre of Paris, the hotel invites you to step back in time to an 18th-century town house. Under the exposed beams, toile pattered décor and crystal chandeliers, you’ll find a 1792 piano-forte, a rare Louis XV harp and a period card table.

The vintage décor continues in the hotel’s charming 19 rooms, which despite the fashionable feel of the place, should leave you in pocket for enjoying the rest of one of Paris’ trendiest neighbourhoods.

Parisian style in the mountains: Chalet Bizet

If you can’t spare the time to tag on a city break to your ski holiday, satisfy your lust for French glamour with a touch of Parisian chic in the mountains. Inspired by Versailles Paris, our Chalet Bizet is a beautifully crafted space with handpicked furniture and a stylish bar for kicking back with a cocktail at the end of a fun day on the slopes. Incredible views, a gorgeous fireplace and luxurious sleeping rooms, made up of two suites and a large double bedroom, it sleeps 6-9 guests.
