It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Think of your dream Christmas. Chances are it would start with waking up in a comfortable warm bed, wandering downstairs and being greeted by a cheerful “Good morning!” and a hearty cooked breakfast. Imagine looking out of the window at the beautiful scenery and, just like you did as a child, wanting to go out and play in the snow. Then, after a day of fun, you could cup a glass of delicious mulled wine in your hands to warm up. Maybe you picture having your family around a large table laden with a glorious festive feast – one that somebody else has cooked and slaved over! Then a nice relaxing evening, sat in a warm cosy living room with a roaring fire and a glass of something smooth and velvety.

That sounds like a pretty good Christmas, right? Well, stop dreaming because that can be YOUR Christmas this year!

The Alps are a special place to be at Christmas and, with its streets bedecked in twinkly lights, Morzine always feels particularly magical. And there’s always lots going on at this time of year too. Throughout the festive period there will be fireworks, shows for children, music in the streets and Christmas markets. You may even see Santa put in an appearance!

From 22 December 2018 to 4 January 2019, the Morzine-Avoriaz Office de Tourisme puts on the “Enchanted Village of Morzine”, two weeks of festivities that are perfect for the whole family – especially kids. They promise “magical performances and illuminations to make the stars pale in comparison, colourful shows that will make your imagination run wild!” There will also be light shows, live music, stilt parades and torchlit descents of the Pleney.

And if you fancy joining in with a bit of night skiing yourself, Morzine opens up the Pleney Stade to the public every Thursday night. Simply turn up with your ski pass between 8pm and 10pm to have a ski down the floodlit piste while enjoying some great views of Morzine by night.

But nothing can be more special at Christmas than spending quality time with family or friends, eating decadently and drinking fine wines. As well as all the usual touches you come to expect from AliKats, we really pull out all the stops on Christmas Day.
