Inspiring food blogs that will leave you hungry
Check out a few of Kat’s favourite blogs that inspire some of her creations.
Wild mushrooms, parsnips, pumpkins, plums, apples and nuts: autumn brings an abundance of colourful produce to satisfy our revived appetites and cravings for heartier dishes. It’s the perfect time for me to start cooking and planning menus for the upcoming winter season in our catered chalets.
The fresh nip in the air and shorter daylight hours make spending time in the kitchen even more appealing, and I’m not the only one feeling this seasonal rush of inspiration. My favourite blogs and Instagram feeds are brimming with pictures of mouth-watering recipes.
It’s a great time to have a peek at what other cooks are experimenting with in their kitchens..
The Hedgecombers for food from the wild side
Janie is living the real-food dream on her family farm on the south Cornish coast. Her blog is perfect for ideas on making the most of your garden produce, veggie box and foraging adventures. If you’re keen to create simple, rustic dishes from scratch, check out Janie’s huge recipe collection. There’s plenty of wild food, meat and fish and she even has a collection of campfire and campervan recipes!

Shannon’s kitchen for unpretentious, healthy grub
On her sassy blog Shannon share’s her no fuss approach to healthy food, along with some pretty colourful language. As she puts it: ‘I don’t believe in superfoods, organic shit, detoxes or diets. I just want to cook some basic, healthy, tasty, everyday food’. Her Chilli Prawn Zasta is a great example of a quick-fix family meal that she’s given a healthy facelift. Find this and other recipes, such as ‘Minimal F*cks Microwaved Cake for One’ in her cook book ‘Healthy Food you’ll Actually F**king Eat’, available December 2017.
Call me Cupcake for the sweet and delicious
Linda creates and photographs all her sweet treats in her apartment in the Swedish town she grew up in. She’s only started baking in recent years and her yummy-looking creations are a testament to the wonderful things you can achieve at home in your own kitchen when you put your mind to it. Cinnamon buns, cupcakes, chocolate and ice-cream, as the name suggests this blog is full of gorgeous treats that will satisfy your sweet-tooth on any day of the week.
Lavender and Lovage for stacks of seasonal inspiration
Karen Burns Booth is a fellow advocate of seasonal produce and has developed a wonderful collection of inspiring recipes on her blog. Following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, her passion started at a young age. Baking; dairy; dessert; fish; vegetarian; meat: her recipes are categorised in a simple fashion for browsing and are easy to get to grips with.
Manager for beautiful food and living
With her fresh perspective on French country life, a background in media and fashion, and a talented photographer for a husband, Mimi Thorisson’s blog is truly stunning! Having made the huge move from city life in Paris to country life in Médoc (yes where the well-known wine comes from), Mimi was inspired to start her blog to share her story and food creations. You’ll find her passion for French flavours is evident in her recipe collection. If you are left hungry for more, check out her workshops for 2018, which cover wine, cooking and photography in gorgeous places like Arles, the Basque country and Piemonte, Italy.
A lot on her plate for a plate full of motivation
As a cook, food journalist, food stylist and author, Rosie Birkett is one busy lady. She’s involved in all sorts of inspiring projects, from supporting Fairtrade and the Soil Association to her recent collaboration with food photographer Helen Cathcart to create the book ‘East London Food’. She’s also got a bunch of awesome videos on her YouTube channel ‘Rosie Foodie’. Go on, take a gander!
