New Year Celebrations in Morzine

New Year is a big deal in the mountains and Morzine never fails to disappoint. Live music, fireworks, children’s activities, fantastic après ski and great snow conditions!

The specific timetable of events will vary but each year you can be sure of a few traditions. The town square is always beautifully decorated with lights and is the place to be for families who want to enjoy the early afternoon entertainment, which always promises lots of smiles for everyone.

Around 6:30pm the ESF tourchlit descent down the Pleney piste is always spectacular. Then the town centre stays lively all night long with live music and DJs, followed by a huge firework display at midnight. The party continues until the early hours in Morzine’s bars and clubs.

New Year Skiing in Morzine

The wide variety of terrain, huge assortment of pistes, snow parks and off piste zones makes the Portes du Soleil a great destination for people of all ages and abilities. Mixed ability groups will find excellent ski tuition and be able to explore different areas of the resort, whilst reuniting for lunch in one of the resort’s excellent mountain restaurants.

The resort prides itself on being family-friendly with well thought out beginner areas and exciting kids parks full of themed characters and fun features for little ones. With plenty of greens and blues, Morzine is brilliant for building confidence. As well as excellent ski schools for older kids, childcare options for under 5’s include crèche, ESF Piou Piou (ski nursery) and private nannies.

The resort’s diverse range of pistes never fails to keep even the most experienced skiers occupied. Easily accessible off-piste, and exciting black runs await advanced skiers in Mont Chery, Grand Combes, and for the most daring of all, the infamous Swiss wall in Chavanette.

Great Skiing Conditions

New Year is still early in the season, but rest assured the Portes du Soleil has an excellent track record of great snow conditions. Morzine benefits from a long season, spanning from early/mid December to mid/late April, with heavy snowfalls arriving in November.

Morzine sits in the heart of the Portes du Soleil at the northernmost end of French Alps, immediately between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. The atmospheric conditions of the Portes du Soleil area create a micro climate, where active weather fronts collide with the local mountains causing high levels of winter precipitation, as opposed to drier conditions further south in the French Alps.

Incredible feast for New Year’s Eve (catered chalets)

In our catered chalets we served a delicious 7-course dinner for New Year’s Eve. Our chefs select the finest ingredients from our local suppliers and always add a twist to traditional regional flavours. A wine pairing for each course is included for Indulgence Catered Chalet guests.
