Ski Safe Blogger Campaign

At the heart of AliKats Mountain Holidays is a family that is mad about skiing. It doesn’t matter if it’s a stunning bluebird day or a total white-out, if school’s out and work’s done for the day you’ll find us strapping on our skis and heading for the nearest lift. We live the mountains, breathe the mountains, and are hugely invested in keeping this epic playground a safe and protected place for everyone to enjoy.

Right now we’re heading into the busiest time of year, when schools break up for half term across Europe and many families head to the mountains. What’s more, with the now excellent ski conditions and the fact Covid-19 is a distant memory, powder fever is spiking at its highest for around three years. Skiers and boarders are simply itching to get back on the slopes. And they should be, holidays in the mountains are full of fun, giving skiers of all ages – from tiny tots to grandparents – amazing memories that last a lifetime.

So whilst we are super stoked to see the big smiles and goggle tans returning, we want to ensure the mountain remains a safe place for everyone. That’s why we are supporting Piste X Code, a Morzine-born campaign that is spreading awareness around the rules of the piste to make skiing and snowboarding safer for everyone.

Many skiing accidents could have been avoided if simple skiing etiquette had been followed. The Piste X Code is a list of eight ways you can keep yourself, your children and others safe on the pistes. To make the campaign appealing to children, Piste X Code has its own yeti mascot named Monty, and an easy to follow video featuring BBC Ski Sunday Presenter Ed Leigh.

But the campaign is not only targetting families, skiers and snowboarders of all ages need to be aware of the rules and take care on the piste. It takes just minutes to re-educate yourself on the principles of safe on-piste skiing, showing respect for other mountain users and setting a great example to everyone else. We have no doubt, accidents will be prevented if people take a few moments to learn or remind themselves of these straight forward rules of the piste.

To help spread the word, we are calling bloggers to share the Piste X Code in a blog post about skiing/snowboarding. All bloggers who submit a post will be entered into a prize draw to win a week-long luxury self catered chalet holiday with AliKats. The winner, along with up to 12 of their pals or family members, will stay in our beautiful Chalet Harmonie, a luxury self catered chalet located in the centre of the French resort of Morzine, in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area.

What’s more, the first 7 bloggers to enter will receive a €50 voucher to spend at EcoSki on outdoor/ski/snowboarding clothing and accessories. EcoSki sells new and preloved ski and outdoor wear from over 30 environmentally responsible brands, including Patagonia, Hestra, Picture and Protest, as well as providing a rental service for those that opt for the greenest option and rent ski clothing for their holiday.

The Prizes

First prize: ski chalet holiday

One winner will receive a 7-night self catered chalet holiday with AliKats Mountain Holidays:

• Fixed dates apply, the holiday must be taken on one of the following weeks:
  • Ski: 8th April to 15th April 2023, 6th April to 13th April 2024
  • Summer: 26th August to 2nd September 2023 or 22nd to 29th June 2024
• The chalet is provided on a self catered basis (there is a fully equipped kitchen, BBQ and dinning area, or prices and assistance can be given to book catering services)
• The holiday is for up to a maximum of 12 guests in Chalet Harmonie which has 5 ensuite bedrooms
• Airport transfers, car hire and in-resort transport are not included
• Flights are not included.

Terms & Conditions

The AliKats’ Dream of Mountains Blogger Challenge is run by AliKats Mountain Holidays, of 72 Chemin de la Cherry, 74110, Montriond, France

The closing date for entry will be at 23:59 (GMT) on Friday 31 March 2023.

One blogger will be picked at random via the online app Random Results (or a similar random results generator) to receive the top prize

The top prize is accommodation in the form of a self catered chalet holiday in an AliKats Mountain Holidays chalet and excludes travel costs. Fixed dates apply for taking your holiday with the option of the weeks of  8th April to 15th April 2023; 6th April to 13th April 2024;  26th August to 2nd September 2023 or 22nd to 29th June 2024

At the time of writing, the Portes du Soleil has ski lifts running until April 23rd 2023.  AliKats Mountain Holidays is not responsible for snow conditions or early closure of the ski resort for any reason.

The first 7 participating bloggers will receive £50 voucher to send at EcoSki. If, in the unlikely event, that this prize becomes unavailable, an alternative will be sent

Entries that are deemed inappropriate and/or offensive will not be included. You are liable for the content of your entry.

Only one entry per blogger.

The winner will be notified by email and must respond by email to confirm whether they accept their prize within 7 days of notification. The prize will go unclaimed if no notification of acceptance is received. This includes the 7 runner up prizes (vouchers).

Blog posts submitted into this competition must be kept live on the blogger’s website indefinitely

The organiser (AliKats Mountain Holidays) may vary or amend the promotion at its absolute discretion.

If, within seven days of your scheduled arrival in resort, there is:

• a Covid-19 related closure of all mountain lifts in the Morzine-Avoriaz area; or
• an instruction by the local authorities in France to close our chalets as a result of Covid-19; or
• a travel ban imposed in France or the country of residence of the Party Leader, which prevents travel to resort within the time frame prescribed in the booking; or
• a requirement to self-isolate (aka quarantine) for a period of 3 days or more in the country of residence of the Party Leader on return from France

then we will accept a cancellation by you and provide you, at our discretion, with an alternative date.
