Morzine in Summer: 10 Things to Do with Kids

May 27th, 2025 Holiday Tips

Most kids aren’t content just lying on a beach — they want to climb, splash, explore, and make up adventures. That’s why the mountains are such a brilliant place for a summer family holiday. Morzine, with its open spaces, lakes, waterfalls, and forests, is like one big playground. Here are some of our favourite ways to enjoy it with children.

Outdoor Adventures

Let’s be honest — not every child is thrilled about the idea of going “for a walk.” But in the mountains, hikes don’t have to feel like hikes. Discover a waterfall, try a treetop course, meet the local animals or cool off with a dip in a lake — every outing is an adventure! Morzine’s lift system is a huge help too, taking the effort out of the climbs and leaving more energy for the fun bits.

Treetop adventure Nyon waterfall

Nyon Waterfall & Cascade Aventure

You can walk to the Nyon waterfall from Morzine centre in about 35 minutes, or make things easier by driving or taking the bus to the Nyon car park. From there, it’s a short forest trail to the waterfall. Keep an eye on the treetops — you might spot people ziplining or balancing on ropes above you! Cascade Aventure has treetop courses for all ages, from tiny explorers on the “Parcours des Fées” (a netted trail with little fairy houses) to teens and adults on thrilling zip lines.

Pas d'Aigle Nyon Morzine

Nyon Summit & Eagle’s Pass

This is a great one if your kids love a cable car. From the Nyon car park, you take a téléphérique and an open chairlift that whisk you high into the mountains with minimal effort. A short, steep walk takes you to the Pas de l’Aigle (Eagle’s Pass), a viewing platform with jaw-dropping 360° views. For those keen to keep going, a rocky trail leads to the summit for even more Alpine panoramas.

Dereches river area Morzine - fun for kids

Dereches River Area

Right in the centre of Morzine, reached from the swimming pool car park, is a lovely riverside area that’s ideal for families. There’s a playground, pony rides, outdoor gym equipment, and Indiana Parc — a treetop adventure park with rope bridges, zip lines, and kid-friendly courses. Add in tennis courts, a skate park, and shady picnic spots, and it’s easy to spend a full day here.

Lil’Stash & Acro’Park (Avoriaz)

Tucked into the Proclou Forest in Avoriaz, Lil’Stash is a magical wooden play area full of treehouses, slides, and quirky sculptures — ideal for imaginative play. Right next door is Acro’Park, with aerial courses for kids as young as 4 and more challenging routes for teens and adults. There are picnic and BBQ areas too, making it a great place to spend a relaxed, adventure-filled afternoon.

Splashing Around

Morzine Swimming Pool

Included with the summer multipass, this outdoor pool complex is brilliant for families. There’s an Olympic pool, a big slide and paddling areas. On the lawns you’ll find table tennis, a volleyball court, bouncy castle and picnic areas. There’s also a café that serves ice cream and kid-friendly meals. Indoors, there’s a 25m pool, a learning pool and toddler splash pool.

Lac de Montriond

Montriond Lake

A local favourite, Lake Montriond is a stunning swimming spot— calm, scenic, and surrounded by cliffs and trees. There’s a shallow, sandy area ideal for little ones, plus kayak and paddleboard rentals for exploring the lake. It’s one of the most peaceful and beautiful places to cool off.

 Les Gets Lake in summer

Lac des Ecoles & WiBit Water Park (Les Gets)

This lake is brilliant for a full family day out. Picture a giant inflatable obstacle course floating on the lake (yes, adults can join in too!). The “Blob” — a human catapult — gets the biggest laughs. Just be sure to book your time slot in advance. A great pump track for bikes and scooters is just up the hill.

Aquariaz (Avoriaz)

If the weather’s a bit off or you just fancy something different, Aquariaz is a lush, plant-filled indoor water park. There are slides, rapids, climbing walls, and an outdoor jacuzzi.

Pony riding in Morzine

Animal Encounters

Pony Trekking

If you’ve got an animal lover in the family, pony trekking is a wonderful way to explore. Younger children (ages 3–6) can join a week-long course at Ranch des Portes du Soleil in St Jean d’Aulps, learning to groom, ride, and care for ponies.

Morzine Équitation also offers half-day and full-day treks through forests, meadows, and mountain trails. For keen riders, multi-day horse treks are available — an incredible way to see the mountains from a different perspective.

The Goat Village (Les Lindarets)

Yes, it really is full of goats. This charming little mountain village feels like a fairytale — think old wooden chalets and goats wandering freely. Kids can feed them, and there are restaurants, little shops, and even a mini train from the top of the Ardent gondola to the village.
