Whether you’re carving fresh tracks in the snow, unwinding in an out of the way mountain refuge, or a chance to uncover the resort’s hidden treasures after dark, you’ll find plenty of options that will give your holiday the wow-factor.

Enjoy ski touring at night under the stars when the rest of the resort’s visitors are nowhere to be seen. An ESF Morzine instructor will guide you and share with you their passion for ski touring and the mountains.

£50 per person. Minimum 4 people. Every Thursday 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Book via the ESF website.

Get ready for big smiles and whoops of joy! Equipped with sledges and headlamps take a dizzying descent down 4km of tree-lined slopes with magical views of illuminated Morzine. Kids from 8 to 11 years accompany a parent in the sled.

Snowshoe and igloo building adventure

Keen to learn some outdoor survival skills? On this 3 hour adventure you and your family can learn how to build an igloo and light a fire in the snow. A memorable family experience, the session includes a 30 – 45 minute snowshoe walk into the wilderness, with special snow shoes provided for kids.

Kids welcome from 5 years of age, £35 per person. Book with Indian Adventures. Morning (9am start) and afternoon (1.30pm start) sessions available.

Join a ski patrol

Ever wondered what it feels like to be a ski patroller? To be the first one on the piste and witness the mountains whilst the rest of the resort is still waking up? Now you can join a ski patroller on their rounds in the morning before the ski area opens up. Being the first to ski on perfectly groomed pistes is a great way to start your day!

Free, departure 8am with registration required at the Tourist Office in Morzine centre.

Off the beaten track refuge lunch

In a stunning Alpine clearing, with rolling mountain views, sits a quaint wooden-chalet style restaurant that is reminiscent of a fairytale. Reachable with a 25 minute walk through the stunning winter wonderland of the Vallee de la Manche, La Crapahute takes a little more effort to reach than your average mountain restaurant but is well worth it. Feast on home-made Savoyard food, including tartiflette, fondue and raclette and don’t forget a sledge for the way back!

Thrilling rides and beautiful creatures

Experience the power and beauty of rare and incredible mountain creatures or find your own wings and take to the air for an extraordinary view of the mountains.

Skiing with eagles

Les Aigles du Léman combines the opportunity to see and learn about rare birds of prey whilst skiing, snowshoeing or dining on the mountain. This new concept is the only one of its kind and is linked to conservation efforts to breed and reintroduce these exceptional birds into the Alpine environment.

Access on foot via the Nyon gondola, which starts from the Nyon parking area located a 15 minute walk or bus ride from Morzine centre.

The Scandinavian practice of being pulled by a horse whilst skiing can be experienced right here in the Portes du Soleil! One or more harnessed horses pull you, the skier, through the stunning snowy trails up on the Avoriaz mountain tops.

‘Mushing’ (driving a dog sled team)

‘Mushing’ is a sport or type of transport involving dogs pulling a sleigh. This experience gives you a taste of what it is like to be a ‘musher’ and drive your own dog sled team of beautiful Siberian huskies.
