Don’t let a pandemic put you off going on holiday: 4 things you may need to consider first

April 14th, 2021 Holiday Tips

As our winter season is coming to and end, we are welcoming in the lighter evenings, warmer mornings and the prospect of a summer filled with guests! Although it would be foolish to try and predict exactly when we can welcome back our guests from the UK, we feel it is at least safe to remain optimistic that more positive times are coming and explore some options with you in the meantime.
Surviving a pandemic has undoubtedly left many of us in need of a holiday, but what if you’ve been left feeling hesitant to ‘resume business as usual’ and return to catered chalet or hop in shared telecabines? Well, if that’s the case then we might just have the perfect thing for you….

  1. The Alikats experience with a twist
Although not a new concept our semi – catered option often gets up staged by its more confident big sister, the fully catered option. With six self catered chalets in the winter and eight chalets to choose from in the summer, you can enjoy all the perks of an Alikats holiday with minimum face to face contact.
We will simply deliver your food straight to the fridge, where it will be ready and waiting for you to reheat once you are home. We can cater for the whole family, including afternoon tea and can even provide the wine – result!
Whether you choose to dine with Alikats for the whole week or just night or two we have an easy online service where you can view our menu and order.
  2. Another way to experience the mountain in winter

If this winter has given us one thing, it’s the ability to experience the mountain as a non skier. Snow shoeing is a great option and is suitable for all levels, we have also tried and tested a few local guides for you.

Although we are not ready to give up skiing all together, ski touring has really come into its own this year and is definitely worth a try. The gear is available to rent locally and the specially adapted skis (or snow board) allow you to walk up the slope and ski back down with no need to use a telecabine or chair lift.

  1. Guess what, Morzine is paradise in the summer too!
For all our die hard snow lovers it often comes as a surprise to find out that the portes du soleil makes a pretty epic summer getaway. With our semi catered option (summer menu coming soon) you can explore the lush green mountains all day and come home to find dinner waiting for you when you get there. The huge network of walking routes covering no less than 800km means you can take a different trail every day and there are plenty of private picnic spots to be discovered along the way.
  2. Rest assured..

Come summer or winter, our hosts and cleaning team are working incredibly hard to keep you safe. As well as our usual high cleaning standards we have added additional procedures such as wearing PPE, sanitizing all chalets (especially touch points) and the use of antiviral cleaning products in vans and shared spaces. The safety of our guests and team is our priority so please do not hesitate to get in touch or visit out FAQs if you have any concerns.

So what are you waiting for? Details of our meal deliveries can be found on our website. A bientot (see you soon)!
