We have compiled our top 10 to help you make the most of your stay in Morzine. Whether it is on the mountain on skis or in town with children, our list has it all….

Best restaurant for local specialties – La Grange

Tucked away in a quiet backstreet, this little gem is often hailed as the best restaurant in Morzine by those that try it. The restaurant has a lovely Alpine feel and serves local Savoyard specialties cooked to perfection. Chef-owner Fred and his team change the menu according to the season and there are often Chef’s suggestions to add to the choice of dishes on offer. Dishes include lamb shank cooked with cider and spices, veal kidneys cooked in cognac, medallions of pork filet mignon wrapped in bacon and a warming winter vegetable crumble.

La Grange Morzine Restaurant

Best restaurant for a large group of people – L’Etale

Right in the heart of the village, L’Etale is a Morzine icon. Famous for its flaming meat trees and many other Savoyard favourites, L’Etale is a great crowd pleaser. This spacious Morzine restaurant is perfect for large groups and special occasions. Remember to book early to avoid disappointment.

Best restaurant for Asian food – Hideout Restaurant

Hideout restaurant focuses on fresh, vibrant, Asian street food. Taking inspiration from Ho Chi Minh to Osaka, Jakarta to Seoul, the menu is a selection of bowls and small plates. Its also a great spot for vegetarian food, sharing platters and cocktails. The restaurant has an up-beat, friendly vibe, but as the most popular alternative to cheese in the village, remember to book, otherwise you may need to wait for a table.

Best restaurant for the most magical setting – La Crapahute

Accessed solely by leg power, this alpine cabin offers a full ‘lost in the wilderness’ experience. After parking at the furthest car accessible point of valley de la Manche, a 20 minute walk up the ski du fond piste will reveal twinkling lights through the trees and the sound of classical music drifting with the mist. The menu is traditional, hearty and cheese based with a few chef specials, such as veal rice with morel (mushroom) sauce and pork tenderloin with honey sauce. The atmosphere is fun and quirky, the drinks will flow and at the end of the night, with your faces hurting from smiling and your bellies full of cheese, there’s a blood pumping headtorch-lit sledge ride back to civilization. Get off the beaten track to experience one of Morzine’s best restaurants, find out exactly how to get there in our blog post.

Best restaurant for non-stop service – Le Colibri

A cafe bistro with a kitchen open all day serving breakfast, brunch, club sandwiches, apéro sharing plates, burgers, Buddha bowls, salads and home-made pastries. Located a short walk from the bottom of the Pleney gondola (Morzine’s main ski lift), this place is great to know, especially if you have little ones to entertain or feed. There’s a terrace outside, but the kids play corner (a mini kitchen, books and toys) is situated inside, so this is a great option when you need a relaxed spot to warm up for a while.

Favourite dish: Babe (pulled pork in a home-made bun with barbecue sauce, cheese, caramelised onions)

Best restaurant for pizza – L’Improviste

Morzine’s only pizza specific restaurant and named the L’improviste for its off-the-wall yet delicious selection of pizza, this is your go to pizza stop in the town center. Offering a range of pizzas from the traditional right through to varieties you’ve not seen before or since. Be aware waiting times can be long in busy periods for those who do not order early.

Best restaurant for an affordable meal – Au Bon Coin

Conveniently located near the Pleney ski lift, the Burger Place is a cheap and cheerful option for those who need a hearty bite between runs. With a fast food vibe and a menu to match. Being the cheaper and faster option doesn’t mean a lack of quality, and being family owned and run gives it a charm and character not usually found with this style of eatery.

Best restaurant for vegetarian/vegan cuisine – Le Bec Jaune

Morzine’s very own microbrewery and restaurant combo. The Bec offers an original menu not found elsewhere in the valley. Often praised for its vegetarian and vegan options, the Bec boasts an impressive worldly menu for foodies, plus solid meat and home brewed craft beer options for those preferring the more traditional approach to a night in a brewery.

Best restaurant for pre-ski breakfast – Satellite Coffee

The pumping heart of Morzines coffee addiction, Satellite is the place to find your daily caffeine fix. Alongside the high quality and in-depth drinks menu is a great selection of eat in and take away food. Whole foods and healthy options feature prominently on the carte, however the cake selection should never be overlooked. And don’t forget to grab a home-made sausage roll for the road too!

Best restaurant for a special soiree – L’Hôtel du Lac

Situated on the shores of Lac Montriond the location offers something rarely seen in the mountains: a view over the water (although often buried under a meter or more of ice and snow), its scenic spot is only part of the charm of Hotel du Lac.
Offering an impressive cocktail menu and heated terrace, the menu shies away from the traditional alpine vibe, offering more of a modern and flavorful approach to mountain food. They also offer shuttle services to and from the restaurant, so ring up and book so you don’t have to drive!
