What is Raclette?
If you’ve never come across Raclette – and many people haven’t as it is a local dish traditional to Savoyard and Swiss culture – then you are in for an absolute treat!
The pleasure is not only in the simple and delicious flavours, but also in the technique and experience of eating the dish, which is perfect for sharing with friends and family. It involves heating this specific type of cheese (Raclette) and then scraping off the melted parts and eating with bread, charcuterie and boiled potatoes.
In mountainous Alpine regions this would have originally been done in front of an open fire, but over the years special Raclette machines have been developed to enhance the experience. We provide a tabletop Raclette machine, with small pans, known as coupelles, in which you melt slices of Raclette cheese.
Our Raclette meal is served with charcuterie, boiled baby potatoes, cornichons and salad. Pair with a Savoyard white wine for a delightful evening around the dinner table.
