We often get asked where are the good places to go for lunch on the mountain and there are some really special places in the Portes du Soleil so here are a few of our favourites..
Chez Babeth – Chatel
A proper little Santa’s grotto located in the Plein Dranse basin, this place is run by Babeth whose narcissism is world famous. Being told what to do in her tounge-in-cheek style is very much part of the experience and the food is good. It is very popular so you will need to book in advance in peak season
How to get there
From Lindarets, take the Chaux Fleurie chairlift up and the ski down in to the Plein Dranse basin. When you are 100m above the village, pause and look for a big red nyon ‘Chez Babeth’ arch!

La Leiche – Chatel
Sit on the comfy sofas surrounding the 360 degree open fire place whilst you warm your toes and eat the delicious spaghetti carbonara
From the Ranfolly bowl in Les Gets, get on the Grains d’Or chairlift & ski down the Renardiere & Vorrosses pistes, following signs to La Turche & La Paika restaurant. Half way down, you will see a drag lift to the right of the piste – La Paika restaurant is just to the right.
Chez Nannon – Morzine
One of the oldest restaurants on the mountain, this converted old cow shed is a delightful little find in the Nyon area of Morzine. The food and service are exemplary. Go, you won’t regret it.
Just after you come out of the Lindarets bowl, there is a fork. You can either take the right fork and ski through the ‘goat village’ and the restaurant is the very last one on the left hand side. Or you take the left fork and ski down a short steep section and the restaurant is on the right
