Our fourth summer holiday with AliKats. Montriond works well for walking access to the lake and an easy walk into Morzine although the free shuttle bus is fairly regular and a great feature. Celebrated our son’s 18th this year with four young people, the range of activities available with the multi pass suited everyone. Thanks for another happy summer holiday Alikats team
Donna Meredith-Wood Aug 2024We had a wonderful stay in Chalet Bizet in July. The chalet is amazing – the location and size was perfect for us. There are wonderful views and it’s a great location near the lake at Montriond. Beca, our concierge, was brilliant very responsive and helpful. Would highly recommend

Jennifer Street Aug 2024Glorious summer holidays spent in Morzine
Throughout the summer, Morzine is a haven for mountain bikers, hikers, road cyclists and families, all here to experience an active holiday amongst the stunning scenery of the Alps.
Restaurant terraces open up for alfresco dining and the town celebrates a host of festivals, with live music and activities for all ages. Meanwhile, just outside of the town, you can relax and wile away the hours swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking and picnicking at the beautiful Lac Montriond.
Morzine in summer really is an unbeatable destination. In fact, and despite our love of snow, we would go as far as to say it is our favourite time of year in the mountains.
Why choose Morzine for a summer holiday?
Morzine is the perfect access point for riding the many world class enduro, downhill, and cross-country trails of the Portes du Soleil. Beginners will also find plenty of gentle areas and green runs. In the town you will find numerous bike and rental shops, with highly experienced mechanics for all your equipment needs.
For those that prefer tarmac to trail, Morzine is the starting point for many popular climbs, including several great cols tackled by the cyclists of the Tour de France. Another option: riding around Lake Geneva offers different scenery and a more leisurely ride than the mountain cols.
Hiking is another great way to experience the stunning beauty of the French Alps. The lift system makes high peaks and routes further afield more accessible. Forests, lakes, waterfalls, rivers, lush valleys and panoramic viewpoints: there is so much terrain and so many routes to choose from, it would be possible to hike a different trail every day of the summer.
While the surrounding mountains are home to a whole range of adventurous activities, Morzine itself has no shortage of things to do. There’s an excellent swimming complex with outdoor pools, splash pool, slides and play area for children. You will also find pony trekking and a rope course down by the river.
Summer weather
There may still be snow on the mountains in June and early July, but don’t be fooled into thinking it is cool in the mountains in summer. Whilst this is the season where the mountains open up to all types of adventurous sports, it is also the season of barbecues, lazy days at the lake and drinks in the sun. You will need to pack T-shirts, shorts, sun hats and plenty of sun cream.
