Lumina, meaning Light in Latin, only begins to describe the exceptional features this chalet has to offer. This 5 bedroom renovated farmhouse is a true jewel in the Alps.
It gets its name from the floor to ceiling windows that border the living space; offering panoramic south-westerly views of Pleney and the Morzine valley. This room, open to the sky and bursting with daylight, gives the sensation that you are suspended high above the valley. You feel closer to the swooping birds of prey and soaring parapenters than you do the ground, and it’s a sensation that follows you throughout the chalet.
Nearly every room offers you a new angle from which to appreciate the stunning scenery and dramatic landscape. On the ground floor, three ensuite bedrooms hug the south-western face of the building. Large French doors open out on to a balcony and, yes, that view. Take time to enjoy a lazy breakfast, or find peace and serenity with a glass of wine and a sunset as you take in the mountains, the trees, the sky and the slopes.
The remaining two ensuite bedrooms are located on the second and top floors. Although they don’t share the same views as the ground floor, these bedrooms radiate charm and taste.
The neutral, stone colour pallets in the bedrooms are clean and crisp. Combined with wooden architecture and classic Alpine features, the overall effect is a neat and elegant room, with a sublimely cosy touch.
It is the open plan communal area, however, which really makes this chalet glow. The spectacular views are a constant companion wherever you are in this space. Four, large French doors panel the wall of the dining area, which permit spectacular views from both the table and the snug area, located on a mezzanine above.
The dining area, with its suspended lighting, elegant leather chairs and rustic, wooden features, has the feel of a fine French restaurant. And the contemporary kitchen, separated by a breakfast bar, has everything you need to create gourmet dining.
After dinner, your only decision is where to sit and enjoy the view. The spacious living area, with a wall-length floor to ceiling glass window, luxurious sofas, and roaring fire, is the perfect spot to retire to with a well-deserved digestif. On sunny days or crisp winter evenings, the large hot tub sits outside on a generous decking with the same, breath-taking view. Relax with a cold glass of fizz and reflect on the day as the sun slowly falls behind the imposing silhouette of Roc d’Enfer. Wherever you choose, we guarantee that the view is as beautiful blanketed with the azure blue of freshly fallen snow, as it is bathed in sunlight.
Chalet Lumina is available on a self catered basis throughout the year. It’s a 10 minute drive to the Pleney and Prodians Express lifts, or the ski bus stops directly outside your door. There is also the possibility to take the small but perfectly formed Petit Lumina which is a self contained chalet right next door and sleeps an additional 2-4 people.
So, if you have a penchant for heady heights, a love of nature, or simply wish to bathe in the majesty of the mountains, Chalet Lumina is the one for you.
